About the ensemble
Manolo Alcántara comes from Catalonia and is, as he says, a self-taught circus performer.
He is the recipient of several major art awards. He creates based on intuition, curiosity and his life journey.
Manolo is not only a remarkable circus performer, but he feels he is first and foremost a craftsman. He also makes his own set pieces. And it is the transformation from craftsman to artist and the process of passing on craft knowledge from ancestors to descendants that is the theme of the award-winning performance MAÑA.
About the show
It is a performative installation whose central motif is the inventiveness and timelessness of universal building elements, seen through an artistic and artisanal lens.
The construction is a choreography based on the principle of economy of movement and effort.
" My father taught me how to build vaults, and MAÑA is the way I would teach my son to build them "
