LA BRUITAL CIE finally in Prague
Bringing this French duo to the Czech Republic in July has been a multi-year project. Their calendar is full for several seasons ahead, and they travel across Europe, India and South America with their western parody WANTED. 
The tireless efforts of the festival director, Mischa Holbikova, to bring this French company to Prague have paid off - you can see their explosively entertaining performance WANTED four times during the 16th edition of the Za dveřmi festival!

HEARING
Some performances are limited by capacity or the number of headphones, which are essential for performance. 🔷 Headphones will always be available for rent at the venue. 🔷 If you want to make sure that we can get you, headphones can be booked at our info booth, which is located at the main festival site in Holešovice Market Hall and is open every day during the program. 🔶🔶🔶🔶 Headphones are a must for the performance of SILENT by Temporary Collective, which takes place on Friday 12.7.2024 at 16:00 on Mariánské náměstí and at 20:00 in Holešovice Market Hall and also for the documentary performance KOMÍN directed by Eliška Brtnická, which takes place on Monday 15 July at 16:00 and at 18:15 in the courtyard of Holport in Holešovice - Komunardů 32.
VOLUNTARY ENTRANCE FEE
Did you enjoy the show? Were you directly impressed? You can show your support for the street theatre and the festival Behind the Door not only by applauding, but also by dropping an appropriate amount of money into a special tube. These tubes always appear at the right time in the right place, are properly marked and are held by the same friendly people you will meet at our information booth during the festival.
TIME
The weather during the festival can be challenging, but that's the risk of street theatre. Sometimes the programme is delayed by a storm, sometimes you expect the worst downpour and it never comes. Different radars predict different developments, so most of the time there's nothing to do but wait and see how it turns out. 
We've known it over the years, and we appreciate that you, the viewers, won't let the weather deter you either! 
The important thing is to wear sunscreen, drink plenty of fluids and, if possible, wear a raincoat rather than an umbrella. Paraplegics in a crowd, let alone in an auditorium, is an impractical thing.
FOOD
You will enjoy the festival Behind the Door with all your senses. The tastes and smells will be taken care of by the street refreshments, led by the bar in the Alotrium chapitó, which always opens a little before the first performance each day and closes slowly after the end of the programme. A staple of our snack menu is Belgian fries, which in addition to the popular fried delicacy also offer meat and vegetarian wraps. 
Coffee specialties and sweet treats will be provided by the TU KAFE mobile café. We look forward to gluten-free and vegan desserts as well as refreshing espresso tonics!

A theatrical parable about finding your place in life. Wandering to the borders of all known and unknown worlds, which every person has deeply written in himself. To the boundaries of fantasy that we awaken from childhood memories. The journey to fantasy is the journey to hope. In the production, together with the audience we will discover the infinite universe of our own imagination, we will meet worlds where man can fly, we will meet mythical animals, dancers will create distant constellations, acrobats will fly like comets and all the near and distant worlds will be connected by captivating music.

Come with Holektiv to fulfill your dreams of flying and experience what it's like to lose your head in the clouds! Three determined female aviators will build their plane and you'll believe it will take off! A street performance in which you will experience the atmosphere of the first aeroplanes. /// The collective, operating since 2016 and consisting of Karolína Křížková, Eva Stará, Andrea Benková, combines the genres of contemporary dance, theatre and new circus in their projects. /// / /Airwomen is a poetic probe into the world of aviation, where the highs, flights and falls also act as an analogy for the world of the new circus artist.

THEATRE OF VOSKRESINNIA / UKRAINE. SHEVCHENKO'S TESTAMENT
A look at Ukrainian history told through the fate of Taras Shevchenko, writer, poet, folklorist and ethnographer, founder of modern national literature and symbol of Ukrainian culture. The artists of the Voskresinnia theatre in Lviv will present the dramatic experiences and situation of the Ukrainian people in their constant struggle for state independence, which is so topical at a time of dramatic war events in Ukraine. The colourful performance features performers on stilts and makes use of moving machines, burning set elements and pyrotechnic effects.
BLACKOUT PARADOX / NOMADIC
A story of the indomitable human spirit in the face of an endless desert landscape. Loosely inspired by the culture of nomadic tribes, the show combines physical theatre and flow arts. The central motif is the Nomad tribe's journey to find a life-giving oasis. Wandering through the sand dunes is accompanied by exhaustion and determination, joy and encounters with mythical desert mirages... Blackout Paradox was founded in 2017 and since then has been working mainly in the field of street theatre. They are best known for their fiery performances, which you have had the opportunity to see at past editions of the Behind the Door festival.
PUPPET DAY
On Saturday, July 13, you will meet puppets of various types and sizes at Behind the Door. Come and try your hand at puppetry or make your own puppet and take it to the puppet parade. The programme will take place mainly in the Holešovice Market Hall from 10:00. The entertainment will be provided by Waxwing Theatre and their Puppet Theatre, larger-than-life puppets from Josef Koblic and Martina Koblic Walterová's studio Tvorba La Bulba and there will be fish, falcons and angels from V.O.S.A. Theatre. You will also meet stilt walkers from Long Vehicle Circus and storytellers from Storytelling.cz. Puppet and mask making workshops will be led by artist Erika Čičmanová and you can make unusual ice cream with performer and clown Viktor Hlúpik. For the afternoon puppet parade, we will go to Mariánské náměstí and after dark, the Market Square in the Holešovice Market Hall will light up with glowing puppets. Don't miss Puppet Day!
FAMILY DAY
Last year it proved its worth and that's why this year we are organising a Family Day as part of the Behind the Door Festival! In the Holešovice Market Hall there will be a programme aimed at young viewers and families with children. An interactive adventure for ice-cream lovers will be prepared by performer & clown Viktor Hlúpik, a traditional Erben's fairy tale will be unconventionally presented by actor and director Jakub Folvarčný. You will see the toilet fairy tale Game of Thrones performed by the juggling duo Brothers in Trick, the atmosphere of the first aeroplanes will be experienced with the Holektiv ensemble, the circus detective will be presented by the AirGym art company and the legendary clown and mime Carlo Mo will also perform. The programme will also present the result of the 𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑴𝑬𝑹𝑺 suburban camp organised by the Centre for New Circus CIRQUEON: a moving Transformer made by young circus artists under the guidance of professional artists, craftsmen and technicians. There will also be a workshop on suspended acrobatics under the guidance of tutors from CIRQUEN and Cie Pieds Perchés!......
THE BROWNIES / CONCERT
The basic line-up of the multi-genre trio the Brownies is Pavel Rohlena (eight-string guitar, vocals, oral percussion), Hanka Rohlenová (percussion and drum kit, vocals) and the unmistakable Annamária d'Almeida behind the microphone. We are lovers of Latin jazz, swing, soul, reggae, rock n' roll, pop and funk. They sing in English, French, Spanish as well as Portuguese, Slovak and Czech. Their repertoire is really wide, focusing on interpretations of well-known, lesser-known and the most famous songs. They have been playing together since 2012 and often and gladly join forces with other original musicians.
JAKUB FOLVARČNÝ / KARLOVA A JAROMIR'S FAIRY TALE
Karel Jaromír Erben's classic fairy tale The Apple Maiden is processed in a very unconventional way. The original production of actor, director Jakub Folvarčný, who tells the traditional Erben's fairy tale with the help of gramophone records and other junk. It is performed in a completely interactive and even participatory way.
ELIŠKA BRTNICKÁ ET AL. / KOMÍN
World premiere of a documentary and movement performance directed by Eliška Brtnická. A performance about chimneys and on chimneys, which brings the facts, but also the emotions associated with this symbol of the industrial era. Nowadays there are many blasting of disused chimneys. However, with their demolition, the memory of the place is also disappearing. Can these buildings be preserved? Spectators are seated in beach chairs. Each deckchair also comes with a headset with expert commentary interspersed with the experiences of members of the Association of Czech Chimney Sweeps. The movement of the three performers on the chimney illuminates its physical parameters; its dimensions, stability, massiveness and material, but above all its inherent verticality.
ICEBREAKING CONSORTIUM / CIRCUS CARAVAN
International street theatre without words tells the stories of new neighbours. /// There's war at home, the circus has broken up, the performers are scattered abroad. What are the fates of the members of a circus family looking for a new place to live and a new mania in Europe? What kind of inhabitants do they meet? Will they manage to put down roots again? /// A music-visual-movement performance by a creative team of four theatres brings a unique socially inclusive theatre about bringing V4 residents and refugees from Ukraine closer together. The problem of refugees and (non-)acceptance of refugees is in the air. Prejudices inflate it, contaminate the air, weigh it down and create gaps between people. /// The production, in the form of a circus and grotesque, ventilates the inflated barriers, pumps humanity, resuscitates dreams and hopes of a tolerant future. Or is it just a utopian bubble?
BROTHERS IN TIGHTS / GAME OF THRONES + POSTMEN
The duo Brothers in a Trick, Adam Jarchovský and Václav Jelínek, are one of the most outstanding troupes in the field of contemporary circus in the Czech Republic. It is an ensemble that has been active on the theatre scene for fifteen years and regularly participates in most theatre festivals and new circus shows not only in the Czech Republic but also on the European stage. The troupe is extraordinary for its constant inventiveness, combining top quality juggling techniques and theatrical situations. At the sixteenth edition of Behind the Door you can enjoy them twice in the performances Game of Thrones and The Postmen.
BRUITAL CIE / WANTED
WANTED is a parody of the western, completely pantomimed by the actress and sound designer. He's the voice, she's the body, and together they play every character in the Wild West, from the proud sheriff to the bloodthirsty bandit, to the banker, the prisoner and the femme fatale. With precise synchronicity, they revel in cartoon-like clichés and tell another story between the lines of the western, their own, a little absurd and a little tragic.
MR. BANANA / BANAN´O´RAMA
Interactive physical comedy with elements of pantomime and new circus. The world-famous Pierrick St-Pierre aka Mr. Banana brings his famous show to Behind the Door, and you have to come - because he can't do without you! Physical comedy, pantomime and a wide range of circus skills, this is Banana's ´Rama. A fiercely interactive street piece for one talented performer and a few brave spectators, Mr. Banana has performed in over 40 countries around the world.
AIRGYM ART COMPANY / FLYING DREAM NO.311
The AirGym Art Company focuses primarily on aerial acrobatics and its unconventional forms. This year, they return to the Za dveřmi festival with a new acrobatic performance, Flying Dream. There'll be lots of exploring, even more flying, but most of all, you'll have fun and laughter... Just like in any good dream.
CIRCUS TRANSFORMERS
This year we are also preparing a Family Day for you. It will take place on Sunday 14. July and the program will present the results of the suburban camp 𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑴𝑬𝑹𝑺, organized by the Center for New Circus CIRQUEON: In collaboration with the international troupes Collectif and then and Cie Pieds Perchés, CIRQUEON will host a special summer suburban camp 𝑻𝑹𝑨𝑵𝑺𝑭𝑶𝑹𝑴𝑬𝑹𝑺 for students aged 13 - 18 ! From 𝟴. 𝗱𝗼 𝟭𝟮. 𝟳. a small group of circus performers will learn to work with tools, wood and metal under the guidance of professional artists, craftsmen and technicians. The technical goal of the project is to make a transformer. An object that we can move with the help of pulleys and our own counterweight. In the performance InFlux Vojta Stolbenko combines elements of juggling, fireshow, new circus and dance with the latest LED technology into one dynamic performance. A humorous, hypnotic performance, InFlux transcends the boundaries of the traditional light show, and together with special fire effects, delivers an immersive visual experience.

TEMPORARY COLLECTIVE / SILENT
The creative platform Temporary Collective is a changing and living organism. Their sound performance SILENT is designed for a group of spectators in a public space, during which the body and mind receive movement instructions. SILENT was created in response to the Covid-19 virus pandemic, its impact on public space, closed borders and the impossibility of travel, and the exposed vulnerability of our bodies. How do we, as individuals, connect with each other in such a world? What does the body remember and what does it no longer remember? Can we make new connections? Can we experience intimacy in such a world? How have our bodies changed in this time? The body in the starring role - in the space between solitude and sharing. Explore a new experience with us!
CARLO MÔ / YOUGUR
YOU. GUR: The primal instinct for pleasure and survival that causes the obsession with carrying things on your back. Carlo Mô just seems to be carrying a wall on his back... for no apparent purpose. That is, until he decides to carry everything he can find, with the apparent desire to hide and store it, because... when less is more... how much more will be more?!!! A street performance of movement theatre, in the unique style of Carl Mô the clown. Using the simplest objects (and his survival instinct), Mô transforms primitive situations into poetic ones.

Cirque Entre Nous is a collective of artists with different talents and a common passion for the discipline called Chinese pole. Performance: MASS.K //////////// An energetic street show attacking the search for one's own self in today's virtual world. MASS.K works with masks as attributes, tools for transforming our own identity into forms that are our own or that we want to hide behind. It is a project revealing hidden desires, inner moments and taboos. As part of the change of programme
on the first day of the festival the music group Kalle will perform! Holders of the Czech music awards Vinyla and Anděl, Veronika Zemanová and David Zeman, will refresh the Wednesday programme through their ambient magical sound. Kalle will take us to the mysterious world of red lakes and mysterious forest walks. Paradoxically, their cool concentration does not lack a strong atmospheric passion. For if David is water, Veronika is fire. Performance: The Postmen - Prague Premiere ///// Their turf is the branch, the pace of their stamps is murderous. In a playful show full of situational humour, improvisation and elements of the new circus, return to a time when love letters were still being delivered from letterboxes on wings of love by the Postmen. Introducing the performers: Orchestra Péro za kloboukem
Guaranteed authentic street shramlband, reproducing with unprecedented commitment anytime and anywhere old evergreens, folk or folk songs, classical melodies, as well as songs from their own drawer. The production usually becomes a performance where the audience is often an integral part of it. The orchestra will play on Sunday 16 July 2023 at 20:30 in the Holešovice Market Hall.
Introducing the performers: Celest & Charles
The hot blood of the Czech music scene that has been flowing in the veins of this ten-member line-up since 2019 has surprised many a listener. Introducing the performers: Hippana.Maleta
Performance: Tunnel // German-Irish Hippana.Maleta is one of the progressive young troupes that inspires the emerging wave of new circus artists with its original movement and technical statement. Its distinctive means of expression is juggling or manipulation of various objects. "Juggling is a language. " Tunnel is a performance of dreams and ambitions. Two friends with the desire to get out of the tunnel. With the desire to celebrate, to live one moment of invincibility, to sacrifice and be accepted. The Tunnel is an invitation to journey into their world where the dream to rise faces the fear of persecution.

The 15th edition of the street theatre festival Za dveřmi takes place in Prague 7 in Holešovice Market Hall and also in Prague 1 on Mariánské náměstí. You can't miss us at Mariánské, but if you don't want to get lost in the Holešovice market, take a look at the map. Festival Za dveřmi will be held in a large area between halls 25 and 24, near the entrance from Bubenský nábřeží.
Introducing the performers: Johnny & Jenny
Introducing: J.O.E. // J.O.E. and Rue are an inseparable duo. J.O.E. is a robot who will do anything he can think of for Rue. He's always up for any new game, makes sure she's eating right, knows how to treat, entertain, in short, he's the best. At least until Rue starts testing the boundaries of their friendship. Performer and improviser Jonatan Vnoucek and dancer and performer Michaela Stará aka Johnny & Jenny bring their new family show. Through playfulness, physical action and comedy, they gently highlight the pros or potential cons that modern technology can present in a child's world.
Introducing the performers: Cia. Manolo Alcántara
MAÑA // Manolo Alcántara is from Catalonia and, as he says, a self-taught circus performer. He creates based on intuition, curiosity and his life journey. He feels he is first and foremost an artisan. He makes his own scenographic elements. And it is the transformation from craftsman to artist and the process of passing on the craft knowledge from ancestors to descendants that is the theme of the award-winning performance MAŇA. It is a performative installation whose central motif is the ingenuity and timelessness of universal building elements, seen through an artistic and artisanal lens. The construction is a choreography based on the principle of economy of movement and effort. " My father taught me how to build vaults, and MAÑA is the way I would teach my son to build them "
Introducing the performers: Blackout Paradox
Performance: Recombination // Blackout Paradox has been working in the field of flow arts and street theatre since 2017. Their fiery grotesque Recombination is about a genius professor AE's quest to master the laws of nature and create better and more perfect beings than humanity itself. However, his experiment gets out of hand... Expect a humorous fireshow with lots of fire and pyrotechnic effects, an over-enthusiastic scientist and smouldering mechanical creatures.

Introducing the performers: Chris & Iris
Performance: GAP of 42 // Two unstable bodies in acrobatic interaction. 42 centimeters and 42 kilograms separate them. A difference that is not a barrier, but rather connects and creates new possibilities. Chris and Iris met at the Academy of Circus and Performing Arts in Tilburg, Holland. GAP of 42 is a compilation of contemporary circus, physical theatre, dance and object theatre. Chris and Iris perform amazing acrobatic feats with precision and ease in a moving, poetic and original performance.
Introducing the performers: Cirkus TeTy
Performance: Narušení // Independent new circus ensemble, founded in 2011 by performers Pavla Rožníčková and Kateřina Klusáková The production Narušení is inspired by elements of absurd drama and moves between new circus and physical theatre. It uses techniques of aerial acrobatics on a golden suspended chair. Directed by Ondřej Holba, we will see Pavla Rožníčková and Veronika Smolková.
Introducing the performers: Tripotes la Compagnie
Performance: Encore une fois // Julio Calero Ferre, Daniel Torralbo Pérez and Gianna Sutterlet specialize in pair acrobatics and also in one of the most difficult circus disciplines - acrobatics on the teeterboard. In the energetic and playful show Encore une fois ("One more time") they perform incredible acrobatic feats that defy gravity. The performance is accompanied by a musical backdrop, live with the sounds of the teeterboard itself and the sounds of ping pong balls, which the acrobats casually juggle with their mouths.

Last day of the festival!
Friends, we have a load of street performances for you today too! We start with the Brothers in Trick at Marianske namesti - at 16:30 you will see the Pig Circus. We continue at the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice with the Irregular Theatre Ensemble - their street show Welcome to stupidity starts at 17:30 and will be repeated at 19:30. At 5.30pm today the doors of Moetivi Caravan will open - you will be able to take the Expedition to Home at 7pm. Don't miss Holektiv and their Spiking Lesson at 6:30pm. We'll end the day and the festival with a concert by the nine-piece brass band TooT Ensemble! Ladies & gentlemen, girls & boys, we look forward to seeing you!
We awaken stories
Monday belongs to EXPO Echoes! We will start with a theatrical parade, which will start at 3 pm at Mariánské náměstí. At the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice today you will see the performance V.O.S.A. Theatre and Brothers in a Trick. They will be complemented by a concert by Thom Artway accompanied by dancer Brian Lean, and the end will belong to the band Floex, which includes the cute robot Josef. All this will take place against the backdrop of glowing installations by LightLab.

Sunday also belongs to workshops! Brothers in Trick will teach you how to juggle, with Long Vehicle Circus you can try walking on stilts and with Holektiv has ballet lessons for you! We start at 16.30 at the Exhibition Grounds in Holešovice.

And the music again!
Let's go back to the music programme: TooT Ensemble will not be lost even in a crowded square! The nine-member brass band TooT Ensemble is inspired by various genres of electronic dance music and the current wave of bands playing live EDM such as Meute, Moon Hooch and Too Many Zooz. However, you won't see any remakes - this is purely original music. Toot Ensemble consists of a six-piece brass section and an uncompromising drum trio. It will get everyone across all ages, cultures and interests dancing. Their concert will be the musical icing on the cake at the end of the festival. The Moetivi Caravan project is street theatre in a compact edition
The performance by Dominika Špalková and Bára Ungerová for families with children takes place in a specially adapted caravan, which is also an art installation. The authors were looking for an answer to the question of what is home and what makes it. Dominika: Home for me is boiling water in a kettle and a radio on. Bára: Home for me is bread and butter. And what is home for you? Maybe home is wherever we are. A project that enters the landscape and tradition. An expedition into the essence of what makes a home a home. Welcome to 1982
Balaton 1982 is an interactive non-verbal street theatre with a bit of nostalgia and satire, and at the same time a small satirical excursion into the uniformity, music and fashion of the 1980s: Lake Balaton is a paradise for holidaymakers from Eastern Bloc countries and its waters are supposed to be a substitute for the ocean for people from socialist countries. The paddleboat rides on waves of humour and situational gags. The times are strange, but life must be lived. Nekem and Balaton and Riviera! FysioART: Lost and found
Who owns the lost item? And whose is/who is the lost entity? The Lost and Found Scenic Bureau. A repository for temporarily abandoned items or souls? Hana Strejčková specializes in working with masks and together with Barbora Ješutová she gives them a unique expression through posture and all other possibilities of body and movement. Every nervous tap of the fingers or shrug of the shoulders gives away a whole sentence and a range of feelings. Expressive masks with melancholic expressions were used by both actresses to portray the image of two fragilely insecure beings hiding from the outside world amidst an oasis of forgotten or lost objects. Anyone with a touch of the archivist or collector in them must sympathise, but also reflect on their own potential dependence. You'll see: Saturday, 16 July at 4.30 pm at Marian Square
Aerial acrobatics with insight
Five acrobats, five different circus schools, one central theme - the acrobatic circle. From beginning to end, the performance Cha cha Chabelita by the Vous Revoir troupe shatters conventional ideas about aerial acrobatics. You won't be deprived of beautiful imagery with an emphasis on skill and technique, but don't expect a glitzy gala show. Humour and insight permeate the performance, the narrative is one of cohesion and sisterhood. Not everything will be in the air, not everything will be about grace and gaudiness. Once upon a time there was a little girl who wore a red bonnet on her head, and that's why nobody called her anything but Little Red Riding Hood... A Czech-Ukrainian production of a classic fairy tale that is well known to children and adults in both countries. It is performed by two actors. Marina lives in Kiev, Petr in Divets. They came together to tell the same story. But Marina speaks Ukrainian and Petr speaks Czech. And each of them knows the story a little differently. It seems that in order to reach a happy ending, they have no choice but to agree. The production Červená Karkulka / Червона шапочка is intended for audiences aged 3 and up. The popular duo Jarchovský, Jelínek, known in the Czech Republic and worldwide as Brothers in Trick, have been a part of the Za Dveřmi festival for many years! Expect a humorous plot with a good dose of masterful juggling. This innovative cultural ensemble will direct titles such as Pig Circus, Brothers Special and juggling workshops. You can also look forward to the Jogging Odyssey, which will be part of the programme of the Echoes of the Czech National Day at the Dubai EXPO. Vertical Wall Dance
In the hot summer we bring fresh air to the capital! We are preparing a very airy spectacle for the opening of the street theatre festival. So exercise your neck muscles - you will need to keep your head slightly bent and your attention focused on the wall of the Old Town Hall, where a performance by talented acrobats from Prague's AirGym Art Company will take place at a height of nearly 50 metres. 3rd Sunday of Advent
It is slowly becoming a tradition in Prague that Advent is brought to life by angelic actors who, during their walks through the city in gentle performances, bring people micro-stories of peace, hope and ordinary miracles. This coming Sunday, we have chosen to take an angelic walk through iconic places, so in the afternoon, between 3 pm and 6 pm, we can meet together at Kampa, Prague Castle, Charles Bridge or Old Town Square.
Advent meeting
Dear friends, just like last year, every Advent Sunday, tall angels will walk through the centre of Prague and hopefully delight those they meet. However, like last year, due to government regulations, we cannot tell you when and where they will be walking. We cannot organize a mass event, but we are free to walk in costume symbolizing Advent and hope. Have a wonderful holiday.

We have experienced together a beautiful summer edition and equally beautiful winter meetings, we have proved that live art is an integral inner need of each of us, that the partnership of performer and spectator, here and now, is the most and no screen can replace it. As PES is already growling at us again, tomorrow we will not go out with our big puppet, but will say goodbye in chance encounters with angel walkers. Winter edition 2020!
With the end of the year approaching, we have decided to bring the winter edition of the street theatre festival Behind the Door to the world. We will face the dark evenings and hardships with light and hope. We will make the Advent time in the capital more enjoyable with several special performances and installations that will take place in different places of the metropolis during Advent. The main part of the programme will take place from 6 to 13 December at the Prague Market Hall. You can look forward to giant puppets, great artists and musicians, as well as unexpected surprises in unexpected places. Due to the difficult situation, we ask for your understanding that the exact programme of the winter edition is not given, we are creating it for you today and every day following the current governmental measures. We believe in the light at the end of the tunnel, we believe in the power of a common idea, we believe that better times are ahead.
