About the ensemble
Who says you have to constantly create something completely new at all costs? The established Czech contemporary circus troupe Cink Cink Cirk is presenting a charming (and incredibly timely) philosophy of degrowth this year. They’ve discovered that the best innovation is sometimes found in good old-fashioned recycling. This group of graduates from prestigious circus universities knows exactly what they’re doing. Instead of churning out one premiere after another, they’ve decided to dust off their own theatrical archive. In doing so, they’re opening an imaginary time capsule, into which they’re mixing years of accumulated experience, first-rate acrobatics, and a healthy dose of contemporary perspective.
About the production
While the world outside has taken a completely different turn over the past decade, the world of artificial turf, plastic barrels, and transparent hoses has remained in perfect isolation. Now, Cink Cink Cirk is opening this colorful time capsule. However, DUKTO 2.0 is not a nostalgic look back, but an uncompromising acrobatic invasion of its own history.
A trio of performers transforms the mothballed space into a playground for modern juggling, handstands, and explosive group acrobatics. Water, which once served only for carefree play, becomes a rare and fragile element in today’s context.
