About the ensemble
The all-female troupe Holektiv has been active on the Czech scene since 2016. Its name perfectly captures who you’re dealing with—it’s a genuine collective of girls and women. Founders Andrea Vykysalá (now Benková), Eva Stará, and Karolína Křížková joined forces to blend physical theater, dance, and contemporary circus. They have their own unmistakable style, to which they love to add a healthy dose of exaggeration, humor, and unique poetics. With their projects, it’s always clear that something truly distinctive is about to unfold on stage.
About the production
Water splashes, wet laundry flies through the air, and on the washboard, alongside dirty shirts, old sins and carefully hidden secrets are scrubbed away with determination. The all-female troupe Holektiv celebrates ten years on stage with a return to its original founding trio, bringing with them the street performance *The Laundresses*. In less than 45 minutes, they transform this everyday routine into a perfectly timed farce, a rhythmic show, and a pair of acrobatics.
This playful family spectacle treats laundry as a fun cleansing ritual that won’t leave you standing passively on the sidelines. The audience becomes a direct part of the action—they’ll sort laundry, hang wet items on the line, occasionally get in the performers’ way, and perhaps even experience an unexpected cleansing themselves in the end. Here, life is simply being washed, emotions wrung out, and memories dried in the sun. And if something happens to go wrong? Just toss it in the water and start all over again!
