About the ensemble

The all-female troupe Holektiv has been active on the Czech scene since 2016. Its name perfectly captures who you’re dealing with—it’s a genuine collective of girls and women. Founders Andrea Vykysalá (now Benková), Eva Stará, and Karolína Křížková joined forces to blend physical theater, dance, and contemporary circus. They have their own unmistakable style, to which they love to add a healthy dose of exaggeration, humor, and unique poetics. With their projects, it’s always clear that something truly distinctive is about to unfold on stage.

About the production

We put on some classical music and head straight for the ballet barre. *Pointing Class* is a 35-minute family show for audiences ages four and up that takes the strict rules of classical dance and bends them beyond recognition with immense elegance. In this studio, things simply don’t go exactly by the ballet book. Precise technique here flows seamlessly into partner acrobatics and perfectly timed slapstick.
A dancer’s body is supposed to run like clockwork, but here the famous order constantly breaks down into playful rebellion. You’ll watch as pure humor subtly creeps in beneath the white ballet tutus. And as if that weren’t enough, the performance itself is followed by a half-hour workshop. You can try your hand at graceful hand movements, the legendary plié, or even standing on real ballet pointe shoes. Everything, of course, takes place in a fun way and (hopefully) with minimal impact on your muscles.
