The Polish theater company Teatr Biuro Podróży (Theater Travel Agency) certainly won’t take you on a run-of-the-mill all-inclusive tour. This Poznań legend has long been considered the absolute pinnacle of European street theater. Their specialty is spectacular, visually mesmerizing outdoor productions where fire blazes ominously, stilt walkers tower over the audience, and raw emotions resonate through the air. Where ordinary mortals run out of words, their images take over, breaking down all language barriers.
Although their performances function as magical visual feasts, a restless theme always pulses beneath the surface. Teatr Biuro Podróży is not afraid to delve into the darker corners of the human soul and explore the lust for power or the absurdity of social systems. About the production
What happens when a classic Shakespearean drama falls into the hands of the masters of Polish visual theater? A veritable whirlwind of chaos ensues. In this production of *The Tempest*, audiences won’t just be watching dusty lines dusted off; they’ll witness a raw and visually captivating study of people who won’t hesitate to walk over dead bodies for a shred of power.
The island exile of the banished ruler Prospera transforms here into a panopticon full of magic, intrigue, and cruel games with human helplessness. When a storm washes those who once betrayed her onto the shores of her makeshift state, it seems the table is set for perfect revenge. But even the most perfect plan orchestrating human destinies has its cracks. Where reconciliation was supposed to come, crime unexpectedly takes hold. The Polish creators set in motion an epic game full of shadows that will remind you that the greatest storm usually rages not in the sky, but within ourselves.
